Why I Started OVRTRE

I first had the idea for this project the day I learned it's literally two lines of code to turn an event on and off on a website.

It was during the COVID pandemic, and my husband was teaching me about software development. I was building a fancy-pants custom website after years of WYSIWYG builders and manual updates. When he wrote those two lines of code, I couldn't believe how simple the solution was. It made me kind of mad: why should something so easy only be accessible to people who can afford a truly custom-coded website?

I started OVRTRE because I wanted to help other singers simplify their lives. But once I started working on the problem, I began to see how all of the little problems of organizing your creative life fit together.

How every engagement means updating your résumé, your biography, your website, your photos, your videos, your applications, and somehow keeping track of it all. None of it is difficult, but all of it takes time away from the work you want to be doing.

So I started building OVRTRE as the tool I wanted, knowing that one day it would become a tool that all creatives could use.

About Me

I'm Eowyn. I'm a singer, creative, CRM goblin, and general hater of bad systems and ugly tables. At one point in my past I was doing web design for singers, and the ugly tables for résumés and websites just made me want to tear my hair out.

But once I learned what's possible to do with a little code it became my mission to find a way to bring a better way of managing the business of being an artist to singers and other artists. Creating art is a business, and I found that most of the tools on the market addressed one problem, or weren't designed for artists at all. So fixing that problem has quite literally become my mission.
